Corsa Scorpion Exhausts

Part of the appeal of the Vauxhall Corsa is the ease at which it can be modified. A performance exhaust system or performance rear silencer (backbox) gives the Corsa a lovely little growl at low speeds and at high RPM, a fantastic scream!

Some of the best exhausts are made in the UK by Scorpion Exhausts, using stainless steel for a stunning exhaust that increases bhp by getting rid of engine gasses more quickly.

 

History of Corsa Sport and Corsaweb

As you may have realised, Corsaweb.co.uk is no longer. I'd run the site in various forms for a good few years, orginally starting out at Novaweb and moving on to the Corsa in 2001 but in 2005/06 the decision came to close the site due to other commitments.

 

Why am I banned from Corsa Sport?

A lot of people have been emailing me, asking for an explanation to why they were banned. Unfortunately, this website is not related to the Corsasport.co.uk run by Ian Griffiths and as such I cannot give an answer. Have you found yourself banned from Corsasport?

Vauxhall Corsa History

Introduction

Launched under the biggest and most expensive advertising campaign ever run by a car manufacturer at the time, the first Corsas rolled off the production line in 1993. Vauxhall had spent £4 million and enlisted the services of Naomi, Kate, Helena and other supermodels to ensure everyone knew that the Corsa had arrived.

Replacing the ever popular Nova, Vauxhall knew its new supermini had a lot to live up to, and the new chassis and range of engines didn't disappoint. The Corsa was out to prove it was much, much more than a fashion statement.

1.6 16v powerplant (X16XE)

Many small capacity 16v units are designed for outright top-end power, but this is acheived at the expense of useful torque in the lower and mid rev ranges. This means that both driver and engine have to work hard to extract any useful performance in every day driving conditions - a process that can soon lose its initial 'sporting' appeal.

Corsa engineers have overcome this problem and produced instead an engine designed to deliver useful torque and power across a wide rev range, providing strong acceleration in every gear. Despite this extra flexibility the 1.6 16v still gives effortless high speed cruising and outstanding top-end performance.

1600 16v GSi engine (C16XE)

1.8 16v (2000 spec SRi)

For the latest Corsa C, Vauxhall decided that 1.6 was not enough for a flagship model - enter the 1.8 16v.

Pushing out 125bhp @ 5600rpm, this is the most powerful engine fitted to a Corsa at the factory. With a 0-60 of 8 seconds and a top speed of 126mph, rivals will be left lagging behind.
While the output is not much more as standard as it's closest rivals, the Peugeot 106 GTi and the Saxo VTS (120bhp each) a little bit of fine tuning from Courtenay, Novatech or SBD should see the Corsa well past the 160bhp mark.

Brakes on the SRi have also been considerably uprated. The rear now featuring 240mm discs with ABS and Traction Control all round. The SRi has 15" wheels as standard on both 3 and 5 door models.
